呼 我終於開始下筆寫篇網誌了!
你現在如果剛開始看應該無法明白我到底有多興奮
雖然網路上關於Brent Rollins的資料非常的多
不過我還是很希望能在這裡跟大家分享 讓大家多知道一個behind story
每個作品後總有一個名字
如果你最近15年內有買任何好聽的hip hop專輯或是NIKE stussy undefeated的衣服
你很有可能擁有他的作品

我想就從這邊說起好了 生於LA中南區
Do The Right Thing 這部應該沒有太多人看過
1991年18歲的Brent Rollins為Spike Lee的電影Do The Right Thing
設計第一個logos

所以就在這翻譯一段專訪來滿足大家的求知慾

TRU: 你什麼時候決定要成為一名設計師？
TRU: When did you decide to become a designer?

B: 我認為應該是在高中，信不信由你。 我就是那種每天到學校就開始畫，非常喜歡畫畫
的那種小孩，但我的母親跟所有的人一樣的告訴我，“你需要賺錢，你需要找到一份工作
。” 所以，我很幸運的，我在高中接觸到平面設計，並且我修了一門平面設計的課。
B: Oh man, I think in high school, believe it or not. I was the kid in school
who liked to draw and everything and my mother was more the kind of person
who was like, “You need to make money, you need to get a job”. So, I was
lucky I was exposed to graphic design in high school, I had a class that
taught it.

TRU: 告訴我們一點關於這些的基本知識，是什麼造就了獨特的Brent Rollins的設計？
TRU: Tell us a bit about those basics, what makes a design a distinctively ‘
Brent Rollins’ design?

B: 我希望別人能夠告訴我這點，因為我不知道。 我非常幸運，人們對我的作品反應都很
好，專輯封面還有其他。這些支持和名氣，你知道的，這幫助我非常多尤其是關於一個好
雇主和一個好案子。我的作品都是反映人們近期所以喜歡的東西。
Oh man, I wish other people could tell me because I don’t know. I’ve been
lucky that people respond well to the album covers and stuff that I’ve done.
You know, it helps to have a good client, a good project. I just want to
present people in an interesting light. I used to do stuff for Quannum from
the Bay Area in California.

TRU: 有別於其他人所認知的hip hop圖像，你一直在用新的方式去創造新的hip hop圖樣
，給它一些新的元素。但很多人相繼效仿你在你發表你最新的作品之後；你如何面對這些
跟你的作品類似或依照你的風格來繪製的圖像?
TRU: So, in moving away from what’s seen as traditional hip hop graphics, you
’re creating new hip hop graphics, giving it some new blood. Having done
that, you’re often influencing hip hop design that came after you. Where do
you draw the line in people being influenced by your style or simply biting
it?

B: 當別人告訴我這些的時候，我很受寵若驚，有時對我來說並不難看出在別人的作品中
有我的東西。 我敢肯定，有些人就是可以接受那樣的做法...但是你知道我是什麼人。當
你創作出某個東西，你並不是創造出來然後死守著。你應該是創造出來分享。只要人們尊
重和承認他們Idea從哪裡取得這樣就足夠了，這是一件偉大的事情。我創作，是因為我做
出我想要與別人分享和展示的東西。 當你把這些東西發布出來，你真的無法控制它。它
有它自己的生命，你懂我意思嗎？ 有時別人會複製，但有時人們用這樣一個想法並發展
它。 如果你有一個想法，並將它推進一步，那就是它的全部。
I’m flattered when people tell me that, sometimes for me it’s hard to see
that in other people’s work. I’m sure there are people who are influenced
by that sort of approach I think… You know what man? It’s like this. When
you create something, you don’t create something to hold on to it. You
create something to share. And as long as people respect and acknowledge
where they get their ideas from then that’s a great thing. When I do stuff
for people I do it because I have stuff that I want to show other people and
that I want to share. You can’t really control something once you’ve put it
out there. It has a life of its own, you know what I mean? Sometimes people
bite, but sometimes people take an idea and develop it. If you take an idea
and push it further, then that’s what it’s all about.

但其中最重要的一點 應該是share分享這個觀點
無論是工業設計領域或是其他 這幾年非常強調的就是分享
分享至facebook 分享新的資訊給他人 這是一個很宏觀的概念
當你分享出一個想法 你無法想像這一個簡單的想法會發芽長成什麼樣子
這就是分享的奇妙之處 無私的分享給他人
